Angela Russell co-anchors KIRO
7 Eyewitness News at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday through Friday alongside
Steve Raible and chief meteorologist Rebecca Stevenson.
Angela has hosted a number of
KIRO 7 Eyewitness News special programs, including
The New Washington Power Players.
Traveling to Washington, D.C., she interviewed three of our region’s top leaders
who took on roles in the Obama administration:
Gil Kerlikowske, Gary Locke and Ron Sims.
She gained insight into their new
responsibilities and what it’s like to work for the President of the United
States.
With Steve, Angela moderated
debates for the 2009 Seattle Mayoral and King County Executive races and hosted
When the Streets are Your Home and the
all-sports edition of KIRO 7 Eyewitness News
Profiles.
Her experience includes
reporting on the major news of the day. She covered the historic 2008
presidential race, the Phillies’ dramatic World Series win and issues on
national security at the height of the War on Terror. She also reported on a
wide variety of Congressional hearings, most notably on steroid abuse in Major
League Baseball. Her interviews with injured Iraq war veterans at Walter Reed
Army Medical Center showcased the consequences of the war on military personnel
and their families.
Angela anchored the Emmy
Award-winning 4 p.m. newscast and reported for the 11 p.m. newscast at KYW-TV,
the CBS-owned station in Philadelphia. She was also an anchor and reporter at
WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C. and WKRG-TV in Mobile, Alabama.
She began
her broadcasting career at
WTMG-FM at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where she graduated with a
bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications News. She is a member of the National
Association of Black Journalists.
Angela and her husband, Telly, have two
daughters, Ava and Maya. When not reading children’s books to her daughters,
Angela explores subjects ranging from thought-provoking literature to
inspirational biographies to the latest fiction bestseller. She also enjoys a
variety of outdoor activities, especially hiking and whitewater rafting.
